In a recent assembly session, PDP MLA Waheed Para proposed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of Article 370 and the reinstatement of special status for Jammu and Kashmir. This proposal has sparked significant controversy and protests both inside the assembly and on social media.
BJP MLAs voiced strong opposition to the resolution, with many condemning the call for Article 370's reinstatement as undermining national unity. Protesters online have also drawn attention to the legacy of past security issues in the region, such as the Uri terrorist attack, which took place during the tenure of the PDP government under former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Following the revocation of Article 370, the Indian government enforced "one constitution, one flag" in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that it aligns with the rest of the nation under a unified constitutional framework. BJP leaders have emphasized that "two constitutions, two heads, and two flags will not work in one country," affirming that Jammu and Kashmir is, and will always remain, an integral part of India.
